Brooks unbeatable as Raiders shut out again

Peter Brooks posted a shutout, stopping all 24 shots that came his way shots as the Hawkesbury Hawks beat the Nepean Raiders 3-0.

The loss is the second straight game the Raiders have been shutout (Wed. at Ottawa) and brings their Jan. record to 3-6.

The Hawks took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Matt Gasuik and never looked back.

In the second, Jeremy Cote and Raider-killer David Jankowski scored goals. The goal was Jankowski’s 11th point in five games against Nepean this season.

Despite the loss, Liam Souliere was solid. Souliere managed to turn aside 39 of the Hawks 42 shots.

The game turned physical in the third with multiple player ejections.

Raider forward Colin McCaughey earned a match penalty for a blow to the head of a Hawks player.

The Massachusetts-native leads the CCHL in penalty min. despite playing over ten fewer games than others in the top five. McCaughey also leads the league in penalty min. per game at 3.27 (among skaters with over 10 games played).

Tyler Orban and Noah Rowe were also given 10 min. misconducts later in the period. Hawkesbury’s Alec Boudin-Tougas was also ejected after the skirmish with Rowe.

This loss brings the Nepean Raiders’ record to (16-26-2-3).
