Raiders offence dries up against Lumber Kings, drop third straight

The Nepean Raiders offence continued to sputter Sun. afternoon, as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Despite 44 shots, Nepean couldn’t get much by Pembroke backup goalie Darian McTavish. The Raiders have only scored one goal over their current three game losing streak.

The game appeared tight in the first where the team’s traded both goals and chirps. Pembroke’s Casey Rhodes opened the scoring before Noah Rowe answered for the Raiders midway through the period.

Having just flubbed a shot from the point and hearing some jeers from the Lumber King bench, Rowe’s shot at redemption found twine and silenced the Pembroke crowd.

In the second, former-Raider Connor Warnholtz answered for the Lumber Kings with what turned out to be the game winning goal. Jarrad Vroman also replied for Pembroke before Rhodes put the game on ice with his second.

Liam Souliere stopped 35 of 39 shots throughout the game. He’s seen 32 shots or more in every game in 2018.

This loss brings the Raiders’ record to 16-27-2-3.

The Raiders will return to the friendly confines of the Sportsplex Wed. night against Cornwall.
