Raiders explode for six goals against 73’s

Powered by Olivier Gauthier’s four point night, the Nepean Raiders cruised to a 6-3 win over the visiting Kemptville 73’s.

The first-year forward from Ferme-Neuve, QC had two goals and two assists on the night, giving him eight points in his last four games.

Gauthier’s second goal of the contest was a beautiful solo effort, dangling through a crowd of Kemptville defenders before outwaiting 73’s goaltender Nick Bond.

“Well, I thought we did a good job getting pucks to the net. The last few practices and video sessions we really stressed driving the net and stopping at the net,” said Raiders’ head coach Darcy Findlay.

“It’s funny because it’s the basics of hockey and if you want to score goals you’ve got to get to the dirty areas and stay there.”

Gauthier was not the only Raider to finish the game with an impressive effort on the scoresheet. Antoine Belisle had a three point night of his own, with a goal and an assist.

Defenceman Noah Rowe scored a long wrister against his former team while forwards Liam Stagg, Graham Denomme, Ryan Horvath and James Buckley each had two point efforts.

Raider netminder Liam Soulière made 30 saves in the contest for his sixth win on the season.

“He’s been so good lately and the team plays with confidence in front of him. It’s nice that he’s being rewarded with a win after all he’s done. We’re happy to have him like always,” said Findlay.

The Raiders are in Brockville Fri. night.
