Raiders Begin Offseason, Acquire Rotondo From Powassan

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – In the first official move of the 2025-26 offseason, the Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Powassan Voodoos of the NOJHL, acquiring 2007-born defenceman Mason Rotondo in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Rotondo hails from North Bay, Ontario, and has spent his entire career in the area. Coming up through the North Bay Trappers program, Mason made the jump to Jr. A hockey three months shy of his 16th birthday and has made himself a mainstay. After drawing into two regular season games and one playoff match in 2022-23, Mason has racked up 101 career NOJHL games over three seasons, peaking in 23-24 with 13 points in 52 games and holding steady last season with 2 goals and 8 assists through 47 games. He has also added a trio of assists over 15 career playoff games.

A right-shot defenceman, Mason doesn’t let his 5’9, 170lbs frame keep him down – he is a very mobile two-way D that has a tremendous amount of experience at a young age. With two seasons left in his junior career, we’re excited to watch his growth while wearing the Black and Red.

Despite growing up in North Bay, this isn’t Rotondo’s first experience in the CCHL. Mason was a member of the Voodoos when they took part in the 2023 Valley Cottage Cup in Renfrew, Ontario. In what is perhaps a taste of things to come, and despite the Raiders taking home an 8-4 win over the Voodoos, Mason picked up the primary assist on a Tucker Shields goal against Raiders goaltender Jack Gedraitis for his first point in a CCHL arena.

We are very excited to welcome Mason to the nation’s capital!
