The Nepean Raiders travelled to the Pembroke Memorial Centre to see the Lumber Kings in action. The Raiders were fresh off a 5-2 to loss to the Brockville Braves while Pembroke would fall just short to the Carleton Place Canadians 3-2.
For the starting goalies, Evan Grant was in goal for the Nepean Raiders and Jack Ferguson got the start for the Lumber Kings.
Nepean scored first on the strength of Tristan Konobelj’s fifth goal of the season unassisted. Seven minutes after he scored it was Evan Greco who responded with his fifteenth goal of the campaign assisted from William Ryan.
Despite the score being 1-1, it was the Nepean Raiders who outshot the Lumber Kings 19-9 in the first period alone.
Five minutes into the second period, Ben Kozyra deflected in a goal which was his sixth goal of the season and his first since joining the Nepean Raiders in the trade deadline. The rest of the second period was all Lumber Kings as they scored goals from Ryan Beaulieu and Nathaniel Mongeau.
Still nevertheless, the Raiders outshot Pembroke 16-11 in the second period.
Nepean would score a goal from Roman Cantrell’s shot off the right face off dot to make it a 4-3 game. It was his first goal of the campaign assisted from Daniil Viscu and Cole Stants. Pembroke closed out the scoring with goals from Max Delage and Ryan Turner.
For the three star selection, for his two goal performance, Ryan Beaulieu was rewarded the first star for the game for Pembroke, having stopped 42 shots in the game Jack Ferguson was given the second star and having scored a goal and an assist in the game, Tristan Konobelj was rewarded the third star of the game for the Nepean Raiders.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Friday January 23rd when they visit the Smiths Falls Bears at the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre.
