Smith and Yates Continue to Shine for Raiders in Smiths Falls

The Nepean Raiders travelled to the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre for a frosty Friday Night game against the Smiths Falls Memorial Centre. The Raiders were fresh off a 6-3 loss to the Pembroke Lumber Kings. The Bears previously put up a defiant 5-0 shutout win against the Hawkesbury Hawks.

For the starting goalies, Evan Grant made his third start with the Nepean Raiders and Logan Heideman got the start for the Bears.

The first period was filled with lots of wonderful scoring opportunities including when Grant made a big pad save off of Brayden Childerhose. The only goal to report was Nicholas Larkin assisted from Tyson Parker. It was his tenth goal of the season and his first since joining the Bears.

This trend of big saves made continued in the second period when Evan Grant channeled Dominik Hasek when he made a snow angel save without his stick. In response to that, the Raiders answered back on a goal from Tyler Smith assisted from Anthony Bertrand and Jack Yates.

Carter Beauchesne helped the Smiths Falls Bears regain the lead from his sixteenth goal of the campagin assisted from Tyson Parker and Luka Benoit.

Smiths Falls scored the last two goals from Caeden Heins and Jackson Heron respetively.

The three star sections include having scored a goal and an assist was Carter Beauchesne who was the first star of the game. Having scored against his old team, Nicholas Larkin was named the second star. Finally with the game tying goal Tyler Smith was given the third star of the game.

Nepean’s next game will take place on Sunday, January 25th when they host the Rockland Nationals at the Nepean Sportsplex for a 2:30PM puck drop.
