Raiders stymied by Colts’ Lascelle

If there are hockey gods, they certainly weren’t ruling in the Nepean Raiders’ favour Wed. night, with a tough 4-2 loss against the visiting Cornwall Colts.

Cornwall netminder Liam Lascelle turned aside an astonishing 55 Nepean (7-10) chances, including 21 shots in the final frame. Chris Theodore’s league-leading 16th goal of the season was the difference for the Colts (10-9-2).

“We played really well again. It’s crazy, 55 saves is unheard of,” said head coach Darcy Findlay.

“We’re going to take nothing but positives, we deserved a better finish but that’s the game.”

Forwards Kari Belec and Malcolm Arseneau were the Raiders who managed to beat Lascelle. Belec also notched an assist on Arseneau’s marker, continuing his hot play of late with seven points over his last five.

Noah Rowe had his second assist in his second game with Nepean while Liam Soulière made 31 saves on the night.

“We need to keep playing hard and honest. Rome wasn’t built overnight, we’re playing well – the rewards will come,” said Findlay.

“Just work on good habits, become better players and in return a better team everyday.”

Nepean is in Pembroke for a match against the Lumber Kings Fri. night.
