The Nepean Raiders completed their two-game road trip by visiting the Brockville Braves at the Brockville Memorial Centre or BMC for short. The Raiders were coming off a dominating 6-3 victory against the Cornwall Colts. Meanwhile the Brockville Braves were coming off 6-2 thumping of the Ottawa Junior Senators.
Last season the Brockville Braves won every game against the Nepean Raiders, but they decided not to allow that to happen.
For the starting goalies, Evan Grant got the start for Nepean in the hopes of looking for his first win on the season while Stryker Connors made his first career CCHL start for Brockville.
The goalies were fantastic in the first period with Evan Grant for Nepean and Stryker Connors for Brockville. The score remained zero to zero until Cole Rowat scored just before the first period ended. It was his first career CCHL goal. Lucas Leblanc and Ryan English got the assists.
In the second period, Rayne Jameson tied the game at one for the Brockville Braves assisted from Tom Boudet and Parker Fergusson. Adam Walker scored twice in the second period giving the Raiders a comfortable 3-1 lead by the end.
Benjamin Carr helped Nepean burst into the lead further with his first career CCHL goal assisted from Owen Kinghan and Cole Krottner. Although Cohen Gill and Tom Boudet scored the goals from the Brockville Braves, it wasn’t enough as the Nepean Raiders escaped with a victory of 4-3.
For the three star selections, having scored twice in the game, Adam Walker was rewarded the first star of the game for the Nepean Raiders, having won his first game of the year, Evan Grant was given the second star of the game for Nepean and Tom Boudet for his one goal and one assist was given the third star for the Brockville Braves.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Sunday, September 27th when they play host to the two-time reigning CCHL championship winners in the Rockland Nationals. If that’s not enough, the Raiders are looking to end September with a bang.
