Nepean Raiders Hire New Head Coach

The Nepean Raiders are pleased to announce the hiring of Phil Bergeron as our new Jr. A Head Coach for the 2020-21 season. Bergeron, 41, is an Ottawa native who coached the last 3 seasons in the Myers AAA program, and last season having a 23-5-2 record. Phil brings a great resume, winning championships at the AAA level and also coaching in Jr.B.

During his playing days Phil was part of a strong Ottawa Valley Titans group. From there Phil played one season in the CCHL before heading on to a 3 year Major Junior career where he played under Bert Templeton with the Barrie Colts and Claude Julien with the Hull Olympiques. He played one year of pro before retiring and turning his focus to coaching.

Nepean Raiders’ GM, Ian Henderson had this to say, “ We are very excited to have Phil on board. He’s had a very successful past both on the bench and as a player. He’s been around players who have gone on to play at the highest level and has a great knowledge of the game. We feel his philosophy and approach to the game along with his past experiences will be a great asset to the organization. “

Welcome to #RaidersNation Phil!
