Saint John, NB – The Nepean Raiders are very proud to announce that ‘07 D John Lumsden has signed his QMJHL Scholarship and Development Contract with the Saint John Sea Dogs!
Lumsden signed with us for his 16-year-old season, and he has been an absolute workhorse. Despite his size, he is one of the strongest and most relentless players our program has seen. The Stittsville native was named to the 2023 CCHL Young Stars game in Rockland, and also earned our 2023-24 Rookie award at our end-of-the-year banquet.
This season, Lumsden has been among the league’s leaders all year long. The 17-year-old standout has 29 points through 31 games, which is tied for second-most among Raiders defencemen in the past decade. Over his Raiders career, Lumsden heads to the QMJHL second among active Raiders in games played (78), and fourth in points (44). All-time, Lumsden cracked the top 50, with his 44 points placing him tied for 45th among Raiders defencemen.
This year was highlighted by the addition of the ‘A’ to his chest, as well as being named to the CCHL Yzerman Young Guns roster in the CCHL-OJHL Battle of Ontario!
General Manager Lino Dixon was proud of the young defenceman:
“We are extremely happy for ‘Lummer’ and his advancement to major junior. He has been a dedicated Raider throughout his career and a great example of what we are building here in Nepean. We wish him the best in Saint John.”
One of our leaders on and off the ice, ‘Lummer’ has been a star during his entire Raiders tenure. We would like to wish him luck this season (and beyond) with Saint John!
