Alnahas Shines in Win Over Hawks

Evan Boucher – 1st Star

by Romano Di Franco

The Raiders snapped a 9-game losing streak following a 4-2 over the Hawkesbury Hawks Wednesday night in the last game of the season at the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena.

Ryan Leonard opened the scoring for the Hawks with his first goal of the season but their lead was short-lived as the Raiders stormed back with the equalizer by William Venne on a terrific feed from Patrick Larkin. Nepean took the lead in the second and never looked back when Tyson Tomasini scored the go-ahead goal and Matt McQuade netted the game winner.

Jeremy Quesnel’s goal with Giuseppe Marino in the box for Interference made it close but Evan Boucher’s 22nd of the year iced it for the Raiders as they snapped an eleven-game losing streak to the Hawkesbury dating back to Februay 18, 2018.

The Raiders kept the high-flying Luke Grainger off the scoreboard and held Dovar Tinling, the top rookie in the league, to just one point.

Nepean doubled Hawkesbury in goals despite the Hawkes almost doubling the Raiders in shots at 50-26.

Keenan Alnahas got the start in between the pipes and went the distance turning away 48 of the 50 shots he faced for a 0.960 save percentage. This game was the eighth time this season that the Raiders have given up 50 or more shots.

The CKDJ stars of the game were: First star: Evan Boucher with one goal and two assists. Second Star: Tyson Tomisani who had one goal and two assists. Third star: Ryan Leonard for the Hawks with one goal.

The Raiders next game is Friday, March 6 as they travel to Rockland to face the Nationals at the Rockland CIHA Arena for a 7:30pm puck drop.
