The Nepean Raiders welcomed home the Kemptville 73s to the Sportsplex following a mini road trip that saw the Raiders split the results. The first of which ended with the Raiders pretty much winning the season series against the Hawkesbury Hawks and a recent 3-1 loss to the Navan Grads.
Meanwhile the 73s came off a heartbreaking game against the Ottawa Junior Senators in which they lost in the last second.
For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant got the start in goal for the Nepean Raiders and Rylan Donovan who did not finish in has last game against Nepean two weeks ago was in goal again for Kemptville.
The Nepean Raiders got off to a great start when Jack Yates scored his eighth goal of the year assisted from Luka Benoit.
More importantly, despite being outshot 13-10 in the first period, Brant was perfect in the first period stopping all 13 shots in that frame itself.
Despite the Raiders and 73s exchanging some highlight reel saves, the second period was all Kemptville as two of the three goals were scored from Lucas Achim. The only other goal was from Alexis Beaulieu.
The 73s closed the game with two more goals from Gavin McDougall and Will Mullins.
For the three star selections, with his two goal performance, Lucas Achim was named the first star of the game for Kemptville. For his three point performance, Will Mullins was given the second star for the 73s and finally with his only goal of the game, Jack Yates was rewarded the third star of the game for the Raiders.
Please note that the Raiders game against the Ottawa Junior Senators on Sunday November 30th has been postponed until further notice due to a figure skating tournament this weekend. A make up date has not been released at this time so check in with the CCHL website for more information.
So Nepean’s next game takes place in a week from Friday on December 5th when they visit the Kemptville 73s for a rematch.
