by Romano Di Franco,

The Nepean Raiders return home following their home and home set against the Kemptville 73s in which they fell short in overtime on Friday.

Nepean still enjoyed a wild ride from the finish. Brockville on the other hand came off a dominating 6-3 win over the Pembroke Lumber Kings on home ice.

For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant got the start in goal for the Raiders again and Nate Galbraith got the call for the Braves.

The first fifteen minutes of game time have been full of quality chance for the Nepean Raiders. In fact the only goals to report in that first period alone were Hugo Brisebois and Jack Yates respectively. As for Brisebois’s goal, it was his fifth goal in three games. As for Jack Yates’ ninth goal of the year, Reed Pettipas assisted for his first point in a Raiders uniform. It was the first of his three points he scored in his successful debut for the team.

The second period saw the Braves and the Raiders exchange goals on each other. First off, Aidan Corlan scored his seventh goal of the season on a short-handed solo breakaway. Nepean would respond on their own short-handed goal on Raphael Tellier’s ninth goal of the campaign assisted from Jack Yates and Reed Pettipas. Brockville closed out on the second period scoring from Hugh Brisebois’s sixth goal of the season and in three games.

The third period saw the Brockville Braves add another goal on Ryan McNally’s seventh goal of the season assisted from Brisebois and Carolan. The Raiders would close in within one from Jack Yates second goal of the game assisted from Luka Benoit and Reed Pettipas which was his third assist of the afternoon.

Nepean did everything they could to force the game to overtime but fell short.

Notably, every goal the Nepean Raiders scored Jack Yates and Reed Peetipas were on the scoresheet. Not only did Jack Yates score twice, but every time the Raiders scored Reed Pettipas assisted thus enjoying himself a solid debut.

For the three star selection for his fantastic three assist performance, Reed Pettipas was named the first star for Nepean. For his continued goal scoring prowess including two today, Hugh Brisebois was given the second star for the Brockville Braves and finally for his two goal performance Jack Yates was the third star for the Raiders.

Nepean’s next game will take place on Wednesday December 10th when the Smiths Falls Bears come to town.
