The Nepean Raiders closed out their three game homestand by welcoming the defending Bogart Cup champion Rockland Nationals. Nepean came into this game on a two game winning streak. Meanwhile for the Rockland Nationals, they were riding high on a five game winning streak.
For the starting goalies, John Gedraitis who has been amazing for the team got the start for the Raiders. Meanwhile Lincoln Molind was in goal for the Nationals.
Rockland got on the board first from two goals from Dylan Allie and Matthew Itzkovitz. Nepean responded at the near end of the period from Tristan Konobelj’s second goal of the campaign from a turnover by Moussa Seydi.
More importantly, the Nepean Raiders outshot the Rockland Nationals 12-7.
This high scoring second period began from Noah Bath’s second goal of the season assisted from Raphael Tellier and Mason St. Onge.
Notably, both teams exchanged goals throughout the second period. Five minutes later, Maverick Brunet scored his fourth goal of the season assisted from, Dylan Allie and Moussa Seydi drew the assists. Not too long later, Spencer Thompson continued his scoring prowess dating back to last week. He fired a laser beam that beat Lincoln Molind. Tellier and Noah Bath drew the assists. Alex Kelloway scored to make this a 4-3 game for the Nats.
Nepean answered back from Spencer Thompson’s second goal of the game assisted from Rowan Cantrell and Raphael Tellier third assist of the game. Just before the second period drew to a close, Alex Kelloway scored his second goal of the game on the powerplay. Maverick Brunet and Josh Penney assisted on the goal. Despite the barn burner second period that could have gone either way. The Raiders still outshot the Nats 17-16.
The third period was all Rockland Nationals as scored goals from Kelloway which was his third goal of the game as well as Matthew Itzkovitz and Taylor Lafromboise.
Although the Raiders got one goal back from Noah Bath’s second goal of the game, Rockland held on to win the game by a final score of 8-5.
For the three star selection, for his three goal performance, Alex Kelloway earned the first star of the game for Rockland, with one goal and two assists in the game Maverick Brunet was named the second star of the game for the Nats and last but not least for his three assist performance, Raphael Tellier was named the third star for the Raiders.
Nepean’s next game takes place on Saturday, October 11th when they visit the Renfrew Wolves at the myFM Recreational Complex.
