Raiders pummelled by Jr. Sens at home

This one was ugly. The Nepean Raiders dropped a 7-0 decision to the Ottawa Jr. Senators, losing by a touchdown on Super Bowl Sun.

It’s the Raiders’ sixth defeat in a row and ninth in their last 10 games.

Jr. Sens’ defenceman Zach Salloum had four assists, while Danny Pion, Owen Guy, Nick Lalonde, Pierre-Luc Veillette and Darcy Walsh all had multipoint games.

Connor Hicks stopped all 23 shots he faced, his second straight shutout against Nepean. He’s had the Raiders’ number this season, allowing only two goals in four meetings.

With the Jr. Sens firing 50 shots at the Nepean net, both Raider goalies saw more than 20 shots on the afternoon. Liam Souliere saved 25 of 29 before getting pulled for Kyle Alaverdy in the second period.

Alaverdy didn’t fare much better, stopping 18 of 21.

The loss brings the Nepean Raiders’ record to 16-29-2-4. They are in  Cornwall on Thurs.
