Belec’s five-point night helps Raiders defeat Grads

Make it two in a row! Co-captain Kari Belec registered a point on every Nepean goal as the Raiders defeated the Navan Grads 5-4 on Fri., their second straight win.

The win brings Darcy Findlay’s squad to 9-12 record on the year.

In addition to Belec’s offensive effort, forwards Antoine Belisle, Ryan Horvath and Raphael Lecours also registered multi-point nights.

A call up from CCHL2, Lecours was making his season debut for the Raiders after playing in 22 games with the team last year.

“I think the team played great! We were really short bodies and every single guy stepped up and battled hard,” said Belec.

Goaltender Kyle Alaverdy had a strong game between the pipes making 31 saves for his fourth win on the year.

After registering only four points in his first 12 appearances, Belec now has 13 points in his last nine games.

“Yeah I guess it was clicking for me. I’ve always loved playing in Navan. I felt really good off that start,” said Belec.

“My linemates helped me a lot and it was good to get back with Raph (Lecours). I guess the (Movember) moustache is giving me some more room out there, little bit of an intimidation factor.”

The Raiders will look to make it three straight this Sun. when they host the Hawkesbury Hawks at Yzerman Arena.
