Raiders ground the Hawks 6-1

The Nepean Raiders’ offence exploded for a 6-1 home win over the Hawkesbury Hawks, their second win in a row.

Defenceman Noah Rowe had three points while four other Raiders had two points. Eleven total Raiders found their names on the scoresheet.

It marked the first time Nepean scored over five goals since Jan. 10’s 7-6 OT win over Brockville.

Rowe, Ryan Horvath, Olivier Gauthier, Geoff Dempster, Liam Stagg and Ryan Donovan (against his former team) found the back of the net.

Nepean went a perfect 3/3 with the man advantage and even scored a goal shorthanded (Dempster).

Despite the final score, the Raiders were outshot. Liam Souliere made 39 saves on the afternoon while Matthew Petizian was chased after stopping only 21 of 27.

The Raiders and Souliere managed to shut down CCHL leading scorer David Jankowski and linemate Chris Smith. The high-scoring duo finished the day without a point.

A section of the Hawks warmed up in baby blue Nepean practice jerseys after some of their navy away jerseys were left in Hawkesbury. The jerseys arrived by gametime.

This win brings the Raiders’ record to 19-30-2-4. The Raiders are off for a while, playing in Rockland next Fri. night.
