Raiders Add Hometown Forward Viscu

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Powassan Voodoos of the NOJHL, acquiring 2005-born forward Daniil Viscu in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Viscu, a local Nepean native, brings a breadth of experience to a veteran Raiders club. Having played for teams as far away as Montreal, Powassan, and even Sheridan, Wyoming, Viscu completed his first full Tier 2 season last year after a pair of seasons in Tier 3 hockey.

After graduating from École Lucille-Teasdale in Montréal, racking up 41 points over 40 games at the M18 D1 B and M18 D1 levels, he brought his talents to the nation’s capital, playing with the EOJHL’s Ottawa West Golden Knights. Playing on a team with other former and future Raiders in Kyle Slingerland, Wade Boudrias, Connor Dickey, and Jordan Provost, Viscu scored three goals and added seven assists for 10 points in 31 games. He spent a full season in the US with the Sheridan Hawks of the NA3HL, dazzling with 23 goals and 52 points in 47 games, Viscu returned to Canada with the Pembroke Lumber Kings. After starting the season with only 1 goal in 15 games, he was traded to the NOJHL’s Powassan VooDoos, teaming up with Mason Rotondo and scoring 7 goals and 13 points over 27 games.

Returning to his hometown of Nepean for his overage season, we’re very excited to welcome the 6’1”, 201lbs forward to our growing list of veterans seeking to bring the Black and Red back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Welcome home, Daniil!
