The Nepean Raiders visited the Renfrew Wolves at the My Fm Recreational Complex for their Saturday night game as well as their fourth game of the season against Renfrew. The Raiders have won two in a row with wins against the Hawkesbury Hawks and the Pembroke Lumber Kings and they wanted to continue the excellent work ethic that was shown in the last week.
For the hometown Wolves this was their first game in a week which was in a 4-1 victory over the Kemptville 73s.
As for our starting netminders, Otsirakatste Brant made his third consecutive start having gone 2-0 in his last two starts stopping 63 of the 68 shots he faced in those games. Nick Kurtiak who was in goal in the aforementioned game got the start again for Renfrew.
The Renfrew Wolves scored first two minutes and thirty three seconds into the game when Kosta Kastanias tallied home his third of the season with that one being unassisted.
That was the only goal in the game as Renfrew outshot the Raiders 9-8 in the first 20 minutes.
The second period was all Nepean Raiders as they scored goals from Spencer Thompson, David Taylor, Peter Freel and Josh Ceaser. Freel’s goal came shorthanded. The only goal in that second period was from Renfrew was Christopher Clarke which was his first career CCHL goal.
On top of that, the Raiders outshot the Wolves 17-8.
Despite Renfrew’s quality chances to mount a comeback, there were no goals in the third period as Otsirakatste Brant stood tall in goal for the Raiders as they won their third straight game. Best of all, the Raiders are now 3-0 in the month of December.
It was a penalty filled game which included a fight against Owen Kinghan and Dylan Paron.
Nepean has one more game against the Renfrew Wolves and that will take place on February 8th at the My Fm Recreational Complex.
The Raiders next game will be held tomorrow when the Navan Grads come to town at the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena.
