Raiders Continue Building Future in Trade with Kemptville

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a Trade Deadline move with the Kemptville 73’s, acquiring 2007-born forward Cooper Grant and 2009-born defenceman Sebastien Chalifour in exchange for 2005-born forward Travis Ouellette.

Grant, a New York-born forward, is a sizeable and shifty young forward with a lot of upside. The Potsdam, NY native stands 6’2” 185lbs, and has racked up 3 goals and 6 points through 20 games in his rookie season. He heads north after a pair of seasons at the Hoosac School in Hoosick, New York, where he totalled 24 points in 34 games.

Chalifour, a recent 4th round selection by the 73’s in last April’s CCHL Draft, is a big right-handed defenceman who’s already 6’2” at 16 years old. Drafted out of the Upper Canada Cyclones U16 AAA program where he recorded 4 goals and 15 points in 35 games last season, ‘Seabass’ will remain on the East Coast to finish the season with the Ridley College prep hockey program, the same program that produced current Raider forward Buddy English. He currently has 5 assists over 35 games with the Tigers.

Ouellette wished to play closer to home in Winchester, and we are happy to assist with that request. We thank him for his time in a Raiders uniform, no matter how short.

Welcome to Nepean, Cooper and Sebastien!
