The Nepean Raiders travelled to Navan Memorial Centre to pay the Navan Grads a visit following a close game against the Rockland Nationals. They came up on the short end of a 4-2 to loss to the Rockland Nationals. Navan would also come out on the short end of a 6-4 loss to the Brockville Braves.
Evan Grant who was fantastic in his last start against the Pembroke Lumber Kings got the call for the Nepean Raiders and Edouard Blais got the start for the Grads.
The first period saw the Raiders and the Grads exchange goals from the start. As for Navan, Matthew D’Urso scored his thirteenth goal of the season assisted from Owen Knight and Tyler Meireles. That came on the powerplay. Nepean responded on their own powerplay goal from the former Ottawa Junior Senator in Lucas Leblanc.
The second period was all Nepean Raiders as Anthony Bertrand scored twice in that frame alone. The first was shorthanded and the second was on the powerplay.
The third period was all Navan Grads as they scored the goals from Mathieu Paris, Tyler Meireles and Wake Purdy. The Raiders refused to go down without a fight as Noah Bath scored the game tying goal from Noah Bath. It was his ninth goal of the season and his fifth goal in the last four games. That send the game to overtime.
After nothing could be decided in the overtime, the game goes to the shootout where the Raiders came up a bit short, but still put together a great game.
For the three star selection, with the game winning goal in the shootout Mathieu Paris was named the first star of the game for the Grads, Tyler Meireles was given the second star for his one goal and one assist performance of his own and for the game tying goal, Noah Bath was rewarded the third star of the game for the Nepean Raiders.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Saturday when they visit the Renfrew Wolves in Renfrew and the Raiders will hope to clinch the regular season series against the Wolves.
