Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a three-way trade with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and Renfrew Wolves, acquiring 2006-born forward Mikayil Kahriman from the Lumber Kings and sending 2007-born forward Leo La Vecchia to the Wolves.
Kahriman, a Kanata native, is a hard-nosed player who brings exceptional value both on and off the ice. Coming off of a pair of dominant seasons in U18 where he scored 65 points in 73 games (44 in 41 during the Wolves’ semifinal run in 22-23), Kahriman jumped to Jr. A full-time with Renfrew. Moving to Pembroke mid-season, Kahriman scored 4 times and added 8 assists in 51 games split between the two squads, and added a goal in Pembroke’s first-round loss to the eventual Bogart champion Navan Grads.
This season, Kahriman has not only proven himself as an effective power forward on the ice, with 4 goals and 4 assists through the first 26 games of the season, but also as a leader and team player off of the ice, as he earned an ‘A’ as one of the Lumber Kings’ assistant captains. ‘Miko’ is a high-character individual who will slot very well into the fast and physical Raiders offence, and we are thrilled to have him in the Black and Red.
GM Lino Dixon gave this statement about the acquisition:
“Miko is a player who I have watched for years dating back to when he was over a point per game in U18. He combines skill, compete, work ethic and character that makes him a great local add for our group. He’s been on my target list for some time and very happy to get him on board.”
Kahriman will wear #79 this season.
We would also like to thank Leo La Vecchia for his time in the Raiders organization. A 2022 7th round selection, La Vecchia was a major piece of the Raiders’ 2021-22 U18 AAA championship run as a 16-year-old. We wish him all the best in Renfrew.
Welcome to Nepean, Mikayil!
