Raiders Sweep Home and Home Series

The Nepean Raiders played out on the second half of their home and home series against the Hawkesbury Hawks having won 5-4 on Wednesday in Nepean.

For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant who has been brilliant for the last two weeks for the Raiders got the start and Brett Rudy who got the game off in that aforementioned game got the start for the Hawks.

Hawkesbury got on the board first from Edward Downey scored his ninth goal of the year and his fourth against the Nepean Raiders. Xavier Lacoste and Michael Minchello drew the assists. Luckily, the Raiders tied the game at one near the end of the first period on the strength of Ryan Kinghan’s second goal of the season assisted from Luka Benoit and Jack Yates.

Despite being outshot in the first period 15-8, Otsirakatste Brant was great in that period alone stopping 14 of the 15 shots.

The Hawks would regain the lead on the strength of Arthur Lalonde’s second goal of the campaign. Albert Genest got the only assist on that marker.

The Raiders would respond on a powerplay marker from Lucas Leblanc’s fifth goal of the season assisted from Mason Rotondo and Luka Benoit. It was Benoit’s second point of the contest and Rotando’s first point on the campaign as well.

Nepean scored the first two goals in the third period from Luka Benoit and Raphael Tellier. Edward Downey would scored his tenth goal of the year and his fifth against Nepean, but it was too little too late for the Hawkesbury Hawks as Carter Williamson closed out the scoring on his ninth of the year.

For the three star sections, with his three point performance, over ager Luka Benoit was rewarded the first star of the game for the Nepean Raiders, for his two goal game, Edward Downey was given the second star for the Hawks and having made 41 of 44 saves in the game, Otsirakatste Brant was rewarded the third star for Nepean.

Not only did the Raiders sweep the home and home series, but they pretty much won the season series against the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Nepean’s next game takes place on Sunday, November 23rd when the they visit the Navan Grads at the Navan Memorial Centre for a 3:30PM puck drop.
