Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders are proud to announce that 2007-born forward Josh Caesar has signed with the team for the 2024/25 season.
Caesar, an Ottawa native, played last season under new Raiders coach Brad Smyth with the U18 AAA Ottawa Myers Automotive squad. In 30 games at the U18 level, he scored 13 goals and added 23 assists for 36 points. As well, in his five playoff games, Caesar added a quartet of assists. This was enough to earn Josh an OHL draft selection – 31st overall, by his hometown Ottawa 67’s.
Standing at 6’1” and 181 pounds at 16 years old, Caesar excels in both ends of the ice. A smart playmaker with a lethal shot, he is also trusted with a key role on the penalty kill, using his size and reach to box out opposing attackers in the defensive zone and create space for himself and his teammates in the offensive zone. His two-way prowess allowed him to score a pair of goals in his three pre-season games, as well as a shootout game-winning goal at the RE/MAX Hamre Cup in Rockland.
General Manager Lino Dixon had some high praise for the 16-year-old:
“Josh is a strong forward with a great attitude and willingness to get better. He was at the 67’s camp as one of their draft picks and learned a lot in the time he was there applying it to his game when he returned to us. He has sneaky good skills and we are excited at the number of different ways he can help us.”
Welcome to Nepean, Josh!
