Raiders Acquire Defenceman Pettipas From OJHL

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL, acquiring 2006-born defenceman Reed Pettipas in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Pettipas, who hails from Rothesay, New Brunswick, is a strong-skating two-way defenceman who brings a ton to the table. Listed at 5’11” 190lbs, the right-shot D is already well on pace for his best career Jr. A season, and we are excited to have him join us in the Black and Red.

Growing up in Saint John, Pettipas came up through the ranks in various east coast-based leagues; after a strong U16 AAA season with the Saint John Knights, where he recorded 4 goals and 26 points in 27 games, he was drafted in the 14th round (235th overall) by his hometown Sea Dogs. Instead of jump to Major Junior, though, Pettipas went south to play in New York at the Millbrook School. In two prep school seasons there, he had four goals and 15 assists over 56 games and established himself as a high-level defenceman in both ends of the ice.

After graduating from Millbrook, Reed came back north, but this time into Ontario. Joining the Trenton Golden Hawks, Reed played a depth role but had a strong season with a very strong squad that ended up winning the OJHL Championship. He recorded 13 assists in 33 regular season games, drew into three playoff games and earned an assist, and even got the chance to play in one game for Trenton at the 2025 CJHL Centennial Cup. This season, in just 20 games, he already scored his first career Jr. A goal (a 2nd period marker against North York in a 7-1 win), and has added 11 assists as well.

We are very excited to have Reed join our defensive corps and play a regular role as we aim to return to the Bogart Cup Playoffs once again. The Raiders currently sit 9th in the league but just three points back of the Hawkesbury Hawks, and four points back of both the Navan Grads and Renfrew Wolves. Your Raiders will be back on the ice this Friday as we take on the Kemptville 73’s on the road.

Welcome to Nepean, Reed!
