The Nepean Raiders played out on the second game on their three-game homestand by welcoming the Pembroke Lumber Kings for the first game since the suspended game back in October. The Raiders came off a 5-1 loss to the Smiths Falls Bears. Meanwhile Pembroke was on the edge of a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Junior Senators.
For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant got the start in net for Nepean and Logan Heideman was in goal for the Lumber Kings.
Visiting Pembroke got on the board first on the strength of Ryan Beaulieu’s third goal of the campaign assisted from Dean Carvalho and Ryan Turner. The Nepean Raiders answered back immediately from Noah Bath’s third goal of the season on the powerplay which is the second best coming into tonight’s game. The Lumber Kings would restore their lead from Christopher Clarke’s first goal of the season.
The second period was all Pembroke as Clarke and Simon Kobylecki got the goals from Pembroke.
Nepean made things interesting as they mounted a big comeback on goals from Rafael Tellier and Luka Benoit, but it was too little too late when Dean Carvalho’s fifth goal of the season wrapped up the scoring.
However the shots on net were amazing for the Nepean Raiders as they overwhelmed the Pembroke Lumber Kings by outshooting them 67-33. That is a season high for them as a whole!
For the three star selection, having stopped a staggering 64 shots on net Logan Heideman was rewarded the first star of the game, Noah Bath was given the second star of the game for the Nepean Raiders for scoring one of three goals for the Nepean Raiders and with two goals of the game, Christopher Clarke was given the third star for the Pembroke Lumber Kings.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Sunday November 9th when the Cornwall Colts come to town for their third meeting of the season.
