The Nepean Raiders played host to the Hawkesbury Hawks at the Nepean Sportsplex following a dominating 8-3 victory over the Ottawa Junior Senators. As for the Hawks, they were coming off a 6-0 blowout loss to the Navan Grads. For the starting goalies John Gedraitis who was stellar in goal for the Raiders got the start again and Brett Ruddy got the call tonight for the Hawks.
Nepean opened the scoring with three goals in that first period. Nicholas Larkin, Luka Benoit and Spencer Thompson who scored his first goal against former team got the goals for the Raiders.
More importantly, Nepean outshot the Hawkesbury Hawks 18-11 in the first period.
The Raiders continued to dominate the game going into the second period as Tyler Smith scored twice and the only other goals were from Noah Bath and Anthony Bertrand. Bath’s goal chased Ruddy out of the game and he was replaced by Luka Gelinas.
Although Hawkesbury scored three times including two goals from Edward Downey, Nepean’s dominance dating back to Sunday was way too much for the Hawks to handle.
For the three star selections, Tyler Smith’s two goal performance earned him the first star, John Gedraitits who was great in goal again for the Raiders was named the second star for Nepean and last but not least, Edward Downey’s two goal outing game him the third star for Hawkesbury.
Nepean is looking to continue their winning streak when the Rockland Nationals come to town on Sunday October 5th.
