Raiders over Bears 4 – 2 at Thanksgiving Showcase

The Nepean Raiders were thankful for Malcolm Arseneau on Mon. afternoon, as the forward’s two goals were the difference in a 4-2 win over the Smiths Falls Bears.

The win was the Raiders’ (4-8) second in their past four games after starting the year 2-6. The Raiders were able to score three of their four goals against the Bears (6-8) with the man advantage.

Arseneau also added helper for a three-point day. The showing pushed him into the league’s top 15 scorers.

His second goal put the crowd at the Thanksgiving Showcase in Rockland on their feet, as he cut through the Bears’ defence from the left corner before firing a wrister past Smiths Falls goalie Kyle Renaud.

Defensemen Michael Thomas and Bryson Michel scored the other markers for Nepean, the first CCHL tallies of their respective careers.

Forward Antoine Belisle also added two assists of his own, giving him four points in his past two games.

Matthew Chan was stellar between the pipes, making 28 stops for his second win on the year.

Marc Shannon and Ethan Coltart replied for Smiths Falls.

The meeting was the first of the year between the two teams, after a Sept. home game was postponed due to poor ice conditions.

The Raiders are back in action this Fri. in an away game against the Brockville Braves.
