The Nepean Raiders travelled to the Jim Durrell Sports Complex for game four of their provincial rivalry. Notably the game featured two teams that are on four game losing streaks. For the starting goalies, John Gedraitis who has been solid in the last two games got the start in goal. Meanwhile Noah Paddock who was great in his last start in a 2-1 loss to the Cornwall Colts got the call for Ottawa. Here’s a summary of the game:
The first period had some pretty good scoring chances from either side in the early portion of the game. Nepean’s best chance in the game came when Nick Houben appeared to have helped the Raiders get on the board first, but Noah Paddock used his stick in the goal line to the rob him. The Ottawa Junior Senators scored first when Charles Poudrette punched home his first goal of the season assisted from Gabriel Pelchat. By the end of the first period, the Junior Senators would outshoot the Raiders 13-10.
Ottawa added two more goals from Isaac Rice and Yoan Gagnon respectively, but it was the Nepean Raiders that outshot Ottawa 12-9.
The Raiders would get one on the board when Luka Benoit ripped a one-timer from a great pass from Tyler Smith. It was his team leading 14th goal of the season. That would be the offense Nepean provided as although the Raiders outshot the Junior Senators 14-6 in the third period and 36-28 overall, they still came up just short.
Nepean’s next game will be held on December 4th when the Hawkesbury Hawks visit the Raiders at the Nepean Sportsplex.
Both teams have split the results having each won a game. The Raiders are hoping they can string together some big wins for the month of December.
