Raiders’ Orban Commits to Robert Morris University

Christmas came early for Raiders’ ’00 born defenceman Tyler Orban, announcing his commitment to play at Robert Morris University in the fall of 2019.

The Stittsville-native currently has four points (2G/2A) in 36 games with the Raiders this season, his first full year in the CCHL. Prior to joining Nepean, Orban was the 16/17 CCHL2 Top Prospect while playing for the Arnprior Packers.

“Robert Morris had everything I was looking for. I went down for a tour a few weeks back and I loved everything about it,” said Orban.

Robert Morris is an NCAA D-1 university for ice hockey, located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Former Raiders’ F Brandon Watt (son of Nepean GM Randy Watt) and G Francis Marotte are currently on the Colonels roster.

Orban is the first member of the 17/18 Raiders to announce any post-CCHL playing commitments.

“Orbs is a pro. He practices hard every day and is focused on details of the game that will make him and his team better,” said Raiders’ head coach, Darcy Findlay.

“He understands the game and the process,” said Findlay. “We are very excited for Tyler. He’s a team first guy that has reaped the rewards of his hard work early on – a daily presence as a 17-year-old.”

With nearly two years until his NCAA career begins, Orban says his focus is on improving with with Nepean for now.

“It’s obviously very exciting but with that being said the work is not done. It’s just beginning,” said Orban.

“We as a team are not happy with where we are in the standings at the moment. But we are still positive that we can get on a role and get right into a play off spot. I believe personally there is always room for improvement.”
