Raiders Acquire Former Sagueneen From Ottawa

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Ottawa Junior Senators, acquiring 2006-born forward Lucas LeBlanc in exchange for 2006-born forward Deklyn Campbell.

LeBlanc, an Ottawa native, grew up here in the city with the Nepean MHA before playing rep hockey with the Ottawa Myers Auto association. Following a dominant U14 season in 19-20 where he put up 43 points in just 36 games, LeBlanc was a 2nd round pick of the Ottawa Junior Senators. He showed off his skill with a 29-point season in U18 AAA in 21-22, and earned a spot with the EOJHL’s Winchester Hawks for the following season.

In 22-23, LeBlanc returned to his dominant ways, earning EOJHL Top Prospect honours with 45 points in 45 games and a call-up to the CCHL Sens. He played in 6 regular-season games and 1 playoff game, which was enough to get his name on the Bogart Cup that season as the Sens won their 4th consecutive championship.

In 23–24 he split the season between Ottawa and the BCHL’s Powell River Kings, scoring 16 points in 31 games with Ottawa and 2 points in 15 games out west. He returned eastward and made the jump to major junior, signing with the QMJHL’s Chicoutimi Sagueneens. In 27 games last season, LeBlanc had a pair of assists.

With an elite shot, top-notch speed, and a knack for racking up points, Lucas will be a crucial addition to our offence as we look to return to the playoffs.

We would like to thank Deklyn for his time in Nepean. With over 50 games and 45 points in the Black and Red, we wish him all the best in Ottawa.

Welcome to Nepean, Lucas!
