The Nepean Raiders played the final game of their mini road-trip, Nepean came off a close game against the Smiths Falls Bears while the Pembroke Lumber Kings came off a blowout 9-1 loss to the Navan Grads. For the starting goalies, Jack Gedraitis got the start in goal for the visiting Raiders and Logan Heideman was in goal for Pembroke.
The Lumber Kings got on the board first on Dean Carvalho’s second goal of the campaign. Evan Greco and Kyle Bernier got the assists. It didn’t take long for the Nepean Raiders to answer back on the strength of Tyler Smith’s fifth goal of the season. Raphael Tellier and Deklyn Campbell assisted on the goal.
By the end of the first period, Nepean outshot the Pembroke Lumber Kings 9-7.
The Raiders began the second period with a great quality chance for Ryan English to make it his third straight goal only to have Logan Heideman slam the door shut with his blocker.
Nepean would take their first lead of the game from Luka Benoit’s seventh goal of the season assisted from Carter Williamson. Benoit has been on a tear lately having scored points in the last five games.
Will Ryan helped the Pembroke Lumber Kings tie the game at two from his second goal of the season, the only assist from the goal was from Adrian Bonspille. Nepean took over the remainder of the second period with goals from Spencer Thompson and Luka Benoit. As for Thompson’s goal, his shot from the point was his sixth goal of the season, and Benoit’s eight tally of the year was his second goal of the game.
Late in the second period, the game was cut off as a result of a power failure at the Pembroke Memorial Centre with the Raiders leading 4-2 just as the game was going to a second period. A make up game has yet to be announced.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Sunday October 26th when the Carleton Place Canadians come on over to the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena for a 2:30PM puck drop.
