Raiders Finish Strong in 8-4 Loss to Grads

NAVAN, ON – The HockeyTV camera at the Navan Memorial was acting like it was a full moon on Friday night but who can blame it as the day started off with a lunar eclipse. The night got a lot more crazy as the Raiders found themselves down 3-0 after one period and down 7-0 around the half-way point of the second.

This edition of the Raiders has shown that they are capable of finding the back of the net and they turned a completely lopsided game into a respectable loss. Jeff Taylor scored Nepean’s first goal of the game and the Raiders outscored Navan 3-1 in the third to make a game of it.

Zachary Lefebvre, Ryan Liverman, and Rylan Iwachniuk accounted for the offence in the final 20 minutes.

The Raiders started Dylan Kosik in goal for his first start as a Raider. He made 16 saves on 22 shots and was relieved midway through the second by Connor Shibley who stopped six of the eight shots he faced.

The first star of the game was Grads forward Gabriel Crete (2G | 2A). Devyn Orpana (2G | 2A) got the nod as the game’s second star while Ryan Liverman (1G | 1A) received third star honours.

Anthony Rivard (2A) was named the hardest working Raider.

The Raiders are in action again on Sunday, November 21 as they make the 90-minute trek up the 417 to take on the Pembroke Lumber Kings at the Pembroke Memorial Centre for a 7:00pm puck drop.
