The Nepean Raiders came back to the Sportsplex to face off against the Ottawa Junior Senators for this game three against their rivalry. Nepean came into this game fresh off a 6-2 loss to the Hawkesbury Hawks. The Ottawa Junior Senators came in having shut out the Renfrew Wolves.
For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant got the start in goal for the Raiders and Evan Grant got the start in crease for the Junior Senators.
Although the shots on net were 17-9 in the first period for the Ottawa Junior Senators, Otsirakatste Brant was amazingly dynamite for the Raiders and so was Evan Grant.
This trend of goalies making great saves continued going into the second period, that was until Reed Pettipas scored his first goal of the season and his first goal in a Raiders uniform. Ryan Kinghan and Tyler Smith drew the assists.
More importantly, the Nepean Raiders outshot the Junior Senators 14-6 in the second period.
The third period was all Nepean Raiders as Jack Yates, Reed Pettipas, Tristan Konobelj and Luka Benoit scored the goals in the third period. Following the Benoit goal, Evan Grant was pulled in favor of Maxim Lavoie.
The only goal scored from the Ottawa Junior Senators was Isaac Rice which was his second goal of the season. The Raiders otherwise dominated the third period giving the Ottawa Junior Senators no chance at a comeback.
The three star selections are as follows. For his two goal performance, Reed Pettipas was named the first star for the Raiders, having stopped 39 of the 40 shots he faced, Otsirakatste Brant was given the second star for Nepean and finally for his only goal of the game, Isaac Rice was named the third star for the Junior Senators.
Nepean’s next game will be a continuation in late October as they will finish their game against the Pembroke Lumber Kings on January 7th.
