by Romano Di Franco

The Nepean Raiders played game two of their home and home stand against the Ottawa Junior Senators at the Nepean Sportsplex 24 hours after their loss yesterday at Jim Durrell Sports Complex.

For the starting goalies, John Gedraitis who got a day off was in goal for the Raiders in that game and Maxim Lavoie made his very first career CCHL start.

Avenging their loss from Saturday, the Raiders put on goals in a hurry as Nicholas Larkin and Luka Benoit scored the first two tallies. The only goal from the Ottawa Junior Senators came from Ben Kozyra. Xavier Gulliemete and Wystin Iserhoff got the assists. At the end of the first period, Nepean outshot their archrival team 13-7.

The Raiders continued to dominate the Ottawa Junior Senators as Carter Williamson scored twice in the second period. He now has points in four of the last five games. Caleb Mead helped the Ottawa Junior Senators cut the Raiders lead to two by scoring his second goal in as many games.

Nepean put the game out of reach with goals from Jack Yates and Spencer Thompson who scored twice. The Raiders outshot the Junior Senators 43-31. That proved to be too much for Ottawa to overcome.

For the three star selection, Jack Yates five point performance earned him the first star for the Raiders. Carter Williamson’s five point performance earned him the second star for Nepean and for his second goal in as many games, Caleb Mead earned the third star for the Junior Senators.

Besides Jack Yates and Carter Williamson, Spencer Thompson scored twice as well.

The Raiders next game will take place on October 1st against the Hawkesbury Hawks and they hope to continued their amazing work ethic.
