Raiders Continue Adding To Prospect Pool

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Renfrew Wolves, acquiring 2008-born forward Jackson Legault and 2008-born defenceman Avery Schoenhofen in exchange for 2005-born forward Nolan DeFazio and 2008-born defenceman Nathan Donohue.

Legault, from Ottawa, Ontario, has spent the past three seasons developing through the Ottawa Valley Titans organization. This past year, Legault posted seven goals and added 15 assists for 22 points with the U16 AAA Titans, earning him a “protect” draft slot with the Wolves. In the Titans’ playoff run, Legault played in all 11 playoff games, scoring a goal and three assists to help the Titans make the OHL Cup. There, he added yet another goal and assist as the Titans were eliminated in the round robin.

Schoenhofen, also from Ottawa, was teammates with Legault for the past two seasons with the Titans. This year in U16 AAA, Schoenhofen was a major part of the back end, contributing seven assists over his 28 games. He also earned an early 4-game call-up to the U18 AAA Titans, as well as a seventh-round draft selection by Renfrew. Avery also suited up in 10 playoff games and all four OHL Cup games for the Titans.

General Manager Lino Dixon provided this statement about the trade:

“We would like to thank Nolan for his contributions to the Nepean Raiders and wish him the best moving forward. We would also like to thank Nathan for his efforts during summer skates with our staff and wish him the best closer to home in Renfrew.

We are thrilled to welcome Jackson and Avery to our prospect pool. Both players played a big role in the success of the U16 Titans on their run to game 7 of the league finals and a berth in the OHL cup. We are excited to help with their continued development.”

We would like to wish Nolan and Nathan all the best in the future.

Welcome to Nepean, Jackson and Avery!
