Raiders Sign ’22 Draft Pick Cantrell

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders are proud to announce that 2007-born defenceman Rowan Cantrell has signed with the team for the 2025/26 season.

The 6’1”, 185 lbs defender is fresh off of a great season anchoring the back end for The Hill Academy in Caledon, Ontario, a prep hockey school with numerous high-profile alumni including Mitch Marner and Laura Stacey. Across all games at the U18 level, Cantrell scored once and added 28 assists over 51 total games.

A local native of Gloucester, Cantrell came up through the ranks with the Rangers’ AA program before being drafted 67th overall by the Raiders in the 2022 Bantam Draft. He joined the Raiders U18 AAA team, playing alongside new teammate Owen Kinghan, and finished fourth in scoring among defenceman with 13 points in 40 games. Last season, he joined the Upper Canada Cyclones U18 AAA program, putting up 5 points but only playing in half the season.

After an impressive summer season at our Prospect Camp and Main Camp just this weekend, Rowan put pen to paper to sign with the Raiders. We’re very excited to have him on the squad!

Welcome to Nepean, Rowan!
