Raiders Bolster Roster By Acquiring Carroll, Thompson

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the Carleton Place Canadians, acquiring 2005-born defenceman Liam Carroll and 2008-born forward Alex Thompson in exchange for 2005-born defenceman Jonah Henderson and 2008-born forward Henry Doucet.

Carroll, hailing from Barrie, Ontario, split last season between the Rockland Nationals and Carleton Place Canadians after a mid-November trade. Playing 17 games each between the two teams, Carroll scored once and added six assists for 7 points in 34 games, as well as a pair of playoff games in the Canadians’ first-round series against Smiths Falls. The 6’1”, 209-pound right-shot defenceman plays a hard and heavy style, contributing well offensively and not shying away from the defensive side of the game.

Thompson was a recent 10th-round selection of the Canadians in the 2024 CCHL draft, playing 36 games at the U16 AAA level with CIH Academy and scoring three goals and seven points. The 6’1” Orleans native will be an exciting addition to the Raiders prospect group for the upcoming seasons.

Hear from General Manager Lino Dixon on the trade:

“It’s never trading great players and people, we want to thank Henry and Jonah for their time as part of the Nepean Raiders and wish them both the best in CP.

We are extremely excited to add another high character person in Liam Carroll. He fits the need of a right-handed defenceman with size that can be counted on in multiple situations. We also add another promising prospect in Alex Thompson who we see in our lineup down the road.”

We’d like to thank Jonah and Henry and wish them luck in the future.

Welcome to Nepean, Liam and Alex!
