The Nepean Raiders travelled to the Pembroke Memorial Centre to complete a game that got suspended back in late October.
Just a refresher for a game that was suspended, the score will remain the same, but the game had to reset from the beginning.
It didn’t take long for the Raiders to draw first blood as Jack Yates scored first for the Raiders which was his eleventh goal of the year assisted from Carter Williamson and Reed Pettipas. Lucas Cameron made it a two goal game from his third of the campaign after Evan Greco’s shot was stopped. Nepean regained their three goal cushion on the strength of Luka Benoit’s twentieth goal of the year assisted from the team’s top line of Yates and Tyler Smith.
The Lumber Kings would close in within two as a result of Max Delage’s solo breakway goal. Yate’s second goal of the game would restore the Raider’s three goal lead as a result of his wrap around tally. Once again, Pembroke made this game a two goal game on the strength of Evan Greco’s thirteenth goal of the season.
The second period began with Luka Benoit’s second goal of the game and this is the third time in the game that Nepean has engineered the three goal lead. The Raiders would burst into the lead further with goals from Nicholas Larkin and Carter Williamson.
To add to the upset, Nepean’s Daniil Viscu’s second goal of the season put the Raiders up front 11-5. Two and a half minutes later, Christopher Clarke’s fourth goal of the year made it an 11-6 game for the Raiders. Evan Greco and Ryan Turner assisted on the goal.
Daniil Viscu’s second goal of the game restored Nepean’s six goal lead right off from the faceoff. Gage Gosney’s first career CCHL goal put the Lumber Kings within five again. Nepean would add another goal thirty five seconds later on the strength of Raphael Tellier’s fourteenth goal of the campaign to make this a 13-7 game. Although Evan Greco scored his second goal of the game, that would be it as the Nepean Raiders capped off a high scoring 13-8 contest.
For the three star selections, if you want count the suspended game Luka Benoit’s four goal performance gave him the first star of the match. Yates’s five point performance earned him the second star of the game for Nepean. Finally, Evan Greco’s five point performance of his own, earned him the third star for the Pembroke Lumber Kings.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Sunday, January 11th when the Renfrew Wolves come to town.
