Raiders begin 2018 by demolishing Grads

New year, new Raiders? Liam Soulière made 36 stops for his first career CCHL shutout as Nepean shut down the Navan Grads 5-0 in their first game action of 2018.

Ten different Raiders got on the scoresheet by night’s end, with Geoff Dempster, Alex Bourhas and Davis Browning each compiling two assists. Graham Denomme pitched in a goal and an assist himself.

The 18-year-old Soulière has been close to earning the goose-egg on a number of occasions, having let in just one goal six times in 25 appearances.

Soulière was fresh off being named an honourable mention for CCHL player of the week for “week 16” and was also an honourable mention for Dec. goalie of the month.

“We just need to win games. We started to a bit before the break,” said head coach Darcy Findlay when asked about his team’s 2018 resolution.

Findlay also mentioned the team is in the market for some more players in the team’s forward corps.

The Raiders will begin a two-game homestand, hosting the Kanata Lasers on Sun., followed by the Brockville Braves on Wed.
