Nepean, ON – The Nepean Raiders have completed a trade with the QJHL’s Gatineau Flames, acquiring 2005-born defenceman Andrew Thompson in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Thompson hails from Oshawa, Ontario, but has spent the past year playing just across the river in Gatineau. He brings 63 games of Jr. A experience, having played previously with the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds, and is skilled on both sides of the puck. Standing at 6’2” and 190lbs, he has a physical but mobile skillset, and has produced offensively with 3 goals and 10 assists in his career.

So far this season with Gatineau, Thompson has suited up for 18 games on the blue line, scoring once and adding a trio of assists.

General Manager Lino Dixon was excited about the addition to the D corps:

“Andrew is a smooth lefty with experience playing Jr hockey. He combines skating, skill and smarts with high character. He will fit in well with our group.”

Thompson will wear #28 for the Raiders.

Welcome to Nepean, Andrew!
