McKee Scores First Goal Of The Season In BarnBurner

by Romano Di Franco

The Nepean Raiders travelled to to the Carleton Place Arena Rink 1 as part of a three game road trip. Nepean came into this game hoping to forget about their blowout loss against the Smiths Falls Bears in which they lost 12-4.

Meanwhile the Canadians wound up losing to the Smiths Falls Bears 3-0. For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant was in goal again for the Raiders and Liam Conway who stopped 47 of 50 shots in his last game got the start in goal for the Canadians.

Carleton Place scored the first two goals from Graydon Mears and Nathan Landriault respectively. Nicholas Larkin would help the Raiders cut the Canadians lead in half for his eighth of the year. Carter Williamson got the lone assist on the marker. Just as when the first period came to a close, Jordan Perrier helped Carleton Place restore their two goal lead for his second of the season. Graydon Mears and Jack Bartlett got the assists.

The Canadians added another goal from Ben Neil’s sixth goal on the campaign. Nepean made things interesting in the second period when they scored two goals of their own. For starters, Mack McKee scored his first goal of the season and Tyler Smith scored his ninth goal of the season. As a result of these goals, the Raiders made this a one goal game.

Carleton Place took over the third period when they scored goals from Logan Wilson and Nathan Landriault respectively. Landriault’s hat-trick chased Brant out of the game as he was replaced with John Gedraitis who was playing in his first game since October 31st.

Gedraitis would stop every shot he faced and Lucas Leblanc would score his sixth goal of the season assisted from Owen Kinghan. That would be it.

For the three star selection, for his hat-trick, Nathan Landriault was rewarded the first star of the game for Carleton Place, for his three assists game Zachary Lapier was named the second star and last but not least having scored his first goal of the season, Mack McKee was given the third star for the Nepean Raiders.

Nepean’s next game takes place on Thursday December 18th when they visit the Cornwall Colts at the Ed Lumley Arena.
