McEwan Stops 44 in Thrilling OT Loss to Cornwall

It was a nail-biting clash between the Cornwall Colts and the Nepean Raiders, as the fans witnessed an electrifying showdown that ended in a dramatic overtime victory for the Colts. The final score of 2-1 was a testament to the goaltenders’ duel.

The first period set the tone for the game, with Brayden Bowen of the Cornwall Colts opening the scoring on a power play at 6:46. Assisted by Kobe Tallman and Etienne Lessard, Bowen’s precision and timing gave the Colts an early lead.

The Nepean Raiders responded in the second period, as Nick Sinani found the back of the net at 13:17. With assists from Curtiss Sturgeon and Nolan DeFazio, Sinani’s goal evened the score after the Raiders got a lucky bounce off a broken stick behind the net. The fortunate goal set the stage for a thrilling remainder of the game.

Despite a flurry of shots on goal in the third period, neither team managed to break the deadlock, leading to an overtime period charged with anticipation.

In a stunning overtime power play goal at 4:19, Kobe Tallman emerged as the hero for the Cornwall Colts. Tallman’s goal, assisted by Tristan Miron and Etienne Lessard, secured the Colts’ victory and sent their fans into a frenzy.

In the end it was penalties that decided the game as both Colts goals came on the man-advantage.

Cornwall extended their winning streak to seven games while Nepean earned their first point against the league leading Colts.

The Raiders are back in action on Saturday as they meet their cross-town rivals the Ottawa Junior Senators at the Jim Durrell Sports Complex for a 7:40pm puck drop.
