Luka Benoit Returns To Raiders

by Tommy Young

Nepean, ON – HE’S BACK!

The Nepean Raiders are proud to announce that 2005-born forward Luka Benoit has signed with the team for the 2024/25 season.

Benoit, an Ottawa native, has spent the last season and a half in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Saint John Sea Dogs. Through 70 career games, Luka sniped seven goals and totalled 16 points, drawing into a trio of playoff games as well. Heading back to his hometown, Luka brings experience, skill, and speed to the Raiders lineup.

Luka was a member of the 2021-22 Raiders U18 AAA team that won the HEO Championship, a season in which Benoit scored 24 goals and 55 points in only 32 games and added 14 points in just 8 playoff games. He fast-tracked his journey into Junior A with a 9-game run, scoring three times. That was enough to secure his spot on the 2022-23 Jr. A Raiders, contributing 8 goals and 8 assists in 27 games – many in dazzling fashion – en route to earning a call-up to Major Junior hockey.

General Manager Lino Dixon was excited to share the news:

“We are thrilled to welcome Luka and his family to the Nepean Raiders. Not only is Luka a great player on the ice, but he has a drive to better himself and those around him. He is a great addition to our forward group and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes this year.”

Welcome home, Luka!
