The Nepean Raiders came back home following a wild Halloween contest in which they came up short in a shootout. Despite that, Nepean still gave their fans hope for the November portion. They played host to the Smiths Falls Bears.

That wasn’t the only game that happened on Halloween, the Smiths Falls Bears dominated the Carleton Place Canadians 7-3.

For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant who had himself a wonderful game after replacing John Gedraitis mid-way through the first period on Friday got the start and Rafael Tremblay who appeared in a 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Junior Senators was in goal for Smiths Falls.

Nepean began the first period with some grade A quality chances including when Tristan Konobelj fired glove side on Tremblay only for him to flash the leather.

The first period was all Smiths Falls Bears as Marc Antoine Riopel scored twice in that frame and the only other goal was from Jacob Smith who scored his first career CCHL goal.

The Raiders got one goal back when Nicholas Larkin fired home his fifth goal of the season which was one that Rafael Tremblay had no chance on. Luka Benoit got the only assist in that marker.

Just as the second period intermission was coming closer to start, the Bears added another goal on Rhett Colson’s first goal of the season. Jonathan Dudziak got the only helper on that goal.

Smiths Falls had a chance to really put this game away on a scoring chance from Jacob Smith only to find Brant’s best friend which is the goal post.

Nepean appeared to have closed in within two as Spencer Thompson hammered the puck into the net. The goal was called off as a result of a goalie interference.

The Bears closed out the scoring on the strength of Jackson Heron’s second goal of the season despite the Nepean Raiders outshooting the Bears 11-9 in that third period alone.

For the three star selection, for his two goal performance, Marc Antoine Riopel was named the first star of the game for Smiths Falls, with his first career CCHL goal Jacob Smith was given the second star for the Bears and finally having won six of the eleven draws, Daniil Viscu was awarded the third star of the game for the Raiders.

Nepean’s next game will take place on Wednesday November 5th when the Pembroke Lumber Kings come to town.
