Hollingsworth Scores in Second Straight Game

OTTAWA, ON – The Nepean Raiders were facing a first-place team for the second time in as many nights. After a 7-2 loss to the Robinson Division leading Brockville Braves the Raiders visited the Jim Durrell Sports Complex to take on the Yzerman Division leading Ottawa Junior Senators.

It was the fifth and final meeting between the two teams with OJS holding a 3-1 advantage in the season series. The last meeting was a 4-3 OT win for Nepean.

Connor Shibley (7-12-1, 0.865 SV%, 5.04 GAA) got the start in the net for Nepean while William Desmarais (22-4, 0.930 SV%, 1.97 GAA) got the start between the pipes for the home team.

The Raiders opened the scoring on Owen Hollingsworth’s 15 of the season. The goal game seconds after Julian Recine’s Slashing Penalty ended. Nolan Mozer and Samuel Beaulne had the helpers.

Ottawa answered back with three goals in the period to make it 3-1 after 20 minutes. Massimo Gentile, Anthony Provost, and Bodie Nobes had the goals for Ottawa. Shots were 17-5 in favour of OJS.

They made it 5-1 in the second. Anthony Provost and Massimo Gentile each recorded their second goals of the game.

Shots in the second period were a little closer with OJS edging the Raiders 11-8 to take the overall lead at 28-13.

The third period featured just one goal. Julian Recine’s 20th goal of the season made it a 6-1 final.

Bodie Nobes (1G | 3A) was named the game’s first star, Massimo Gentile (2G) got the nod as second star. Raiders forward Owen Hollingsworth (1G) was named third star.

Samuel Beaulne (1A) was named the hardest working Raider.

The Raiders are in action again with their third game in three days as they host the Cornwall Colts at the Nepean Sportsplex Steve Yzerman Arena for a 2:30pm puck drop.
