Campbell Scores 18th Of Season in 4-1 Loss to Rockland

The Nepean Raiders played host to the Rockland Nationals for their third meeting of the season against each other. Nepean came off  a 4-2 loss to the Smiths Falls Bears whereas the Rockland Nationals are on a six game winning streak. For the starting goalies, Sean Hogan made his first start in a month when he was in goal against Ottawa Junior Senators on December 13th. For the the eighth time in nine starts, Otsirakatste Brant got the call in goal.

The game was a really even steven affair with Brant and Hogan looking nice and tidy in their own end of the rink. Late in the first period, Raphael Tellier and James Marshall each scored the goals for the visiting Rockland Nationals. They came twenty seconds apart. By the end of the first period, the Nepean Raiders outshot the Rockland Nationals 14-13.

The Nats added another goal when Guillame Labre scored on his own rebound to make it 3-0. Nepean would get on the scoreboard when Deklyn Campbell tallied home his 18th of the season assisted from Nick Houben and Dylan Pollock. Rockland would outshoot the Nepean Raiders 21-13 in the second period.

The only goal in the third period came late when Gabriel Le Houillier put home his 20th of the year with the assists from Mathys Laurent and Jacob Charron.

Overall, the Rockland Nationals outshot the Nepean Raiders 40-35 to win their seventh consecutive game.

The Raiders were not too beat up about that as with a goal in this game, Deklyn Campbell was given the game’s first star, Sean Hogan who made thirty four saves is the second star and James Marshall who scored one of four goals for Rockland is the third star.

Nepean’s next game will be held on Wednesday January 15th when the Hawkesbury Hawks come to town for a 7:30PM puck drop.
