Brant Makes Career High 47 Saves Against Ottawa

by Romano Di Franco

The Nepean Raiders travelled back home for the second game of their home and home stand following a Family Day loss to the Ottawa Junior Senators.

For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant got the start in goal having been given a day off on Family Day, Nicolas Morvan who was perfect in that aforementioned game got the start in goal again for the Junior Senators.

Although there were no goals to report in the first period, Brant was dynamite in that frame alone stopping a career high 24 shots. That even included a highlight reel pad save made against the former the Nepean Raider in Deklyn Campbell.

Despite the Ottawa Junior Senators scoring the first two goals from Raphael Tellier and Hunter Robitaille, Maxim Leblanc cut the Junior Senators lead in half. Not only was it his first goal as a Nepean Raider, but it ended their scoring drought. Ottawa restored their two goal lead on the strength of Isaac Rice’s powerplay goal.

Although the Junior Senators closed out the scoring from Henry Brady’s powerplay goal, the Raiders closed out the game with a couple of things to be proud of. Not only did Otsirakatste Brant stop a career high 47 shots on goal, the Raiders had a glorious opportunity to score one last goal from Noah Bath’s breakaway only to have Nicolas Morvan stretch the pads out to make the save.

For the three star selections, having scored against his former team Raphael Tellier was named the first star of the game for the Junior Senators, with one assist in the game Clement Vallete was rewarded the second star for Ottawa and finally having scored his first goal with the Raiders, Maxim Leblanc was given the third star for Nepean.

Nepean’s next game will take place on Friday February 20th against the Rockland Nationals.
