The Nepean Raiders travelled to the Navan Memorial Centre to see the Grads as part of their final road trip of the season. Nepean came off a thrilling shootout win against the Renfrew Wolves. The Grads were coming off a deflating 7-3 loss to the Ottawa Junior Senators. For the starting netminders Otsirakatste Brant got the nod for the Raiders and the Grads went with Cooper Fleming.
Although there were no goals to report, the first period featured lots of scoring chances for the Raiders including a solo breakaway from Noah Bath in which he crashed into Cooper Flemming. Despite being outshot by Navan 18-9, Brant was tremendous stopping all 18 shots he faced in that period alone.
In the second period, the Grads scored the first two goals from Mathieu Paris and Andrew Waugh. The Raiders cut the lead in half from Lucas Leblanc’s 12th goal of the season where scored five hole on Cooper Fleming.
In the third period, Navan closed out the scoring on Matthew D’Urso’s 16th goal of campaign assisted from Andrew Waugh and Luca Restauri.
For the three star selections, for his two point performance, Andrew Waugh was named the first star of the game for the Navan Grads, for his insurance goal Matthew D’Urso was given the second star of the game and for his 43 save outing Otsirakatste Brant was rewarded the third star of the game for the Nepean Raiders.
Nepean’s next game will take place on Friday March 13th for the second to last game of the season when they see the Hawkesbury Hawks for the last time this year.
