The Nepean Raiders travelled to Rockland Ontario for Day One of the CCHL Fall Showcase to see the Rockland Nationals. The Raiders came in hoping to make a good impression for these set of games.
For the starting goalies, Otsirakatste Brant was in goal again for the Nepean Raiders and Jack Carter was in net for the Rockland Nationals.
The first period was filled with fantastic saves made from Brant right from the start. In fact the only goal to report in the first period was from Justin Savage which was his first career CCHL goal assisted Anthony Sergeyev and Dylan Allie. Besides that, Otsirakatste Brant was brilliant in the first period making twenty saves alone!
He was equally great in the second period stopping seven of the eight shots he faced. The only goal in the second period came from Gabriel Le Houllier which was his 31st goal of the year. Alex Kelloway and Mathys Laurent drew the assists.
The Nepean Raiders would get on the scoreboard in the third period when Luka Benoit deflected a shot from Jack Yates. It was Benoit’s team leading eighteenth goal of the season.
Rockland then closed out the scoring from the last three goals from Guillaume Labre, Alex Kelloway and Gabriel Le Houllier respectively.
For the three star selections, for scoring his first career CCHL goal, Justin Savage was named the first star for the Nationals, for his two goal performance Gabriel Le Houllier was given the second star for Rockland and Otsirakate Brant was named the third star of the game for the Nepean Raiders for his 37 save performance.
Nepean’s next game takes place tomorrow when they face off the Carleton Place Canadians.
